I designed a product family starting with a form that all the products follow. Using the same basic shape in the products makes them easier and more affordable to manufacture and gives the collection a uniform look. My design process started from a simple egg-like shape that I used throughout my this whole kitchen collection. All of the products are made of birch.
This trivet has a row of round shapes attached to each other with a rope so that it can be flipped around to form different shapes – round, straight or curvy. They are like stepping stones that form a path, hence the name polku. These wooden pieces are ideal for placing hot pans on the table and with it’s long shape it ties the table setting together. It also looks good as is and dresses the table like a table runner.
These salad servers fit together and with their shape they stay on the side of the salad bowl without sliding in it.
Salt and pepper shakers form the same round shape as the other products and look pretty on a table.
A bigger tray has room for a little afternoon snack and the curved edges make it easy to lift from a table.
A fresh beverage opens with ease with this bottle opener that fits in with the rest of the set. It has a big handle that makes it easy to hold.
